[EDIT] This promotion is now over — I hope you could pick up some new volumes for your shelves!
The New Studies in Biblical Theology series (edited by D. A. “The Don” Carson) is, in my opinion, one of the most helpful series in biblical theology to be published in quite some time. Each volume examines one thread of the biblical tapestry in great depth, from the atonement and shalom, to prayer, to repentance.
J. Gary Millar’s Calling on the Name of the Lord was a thorough and meaningful look at a biblical theology of prayer. It reframes prayer as more than simply “talking with God,” and locates the center of prayer as calling upon the name of the Lord, as seen first in Genesis 4:26. God’s Unfaithful Wife, by Raymond C. Ortlund Jr. (I’m biased; he’s my pastor) is also a wonderfully thought-provoking book on spiritual adultery.
