A Reformed, intentionally-small, residential-only seminary in Dyer, Indiana with a focus on training ministers for the pulpit.
Get Grounded in Historical Reformed Theology
Mid-America Reformed Seminary has deep roots in the Reformed tradition. It grew out of the United Reformed Church, and shares many theological emphases with the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Church in America, and other conservative Reformed denominations. A Neo-Kuyperian focus, and a deep heart for pastoral ministry and preaching, will equip students to engage their culture with the powerful word of God, and a heart for renewal.
The seminary centers itself around four core distinctives: 1) a commitment to Scripture, 2) a confessional approach, 3) a gospel focus, and 4) relationship with the Church. The course instruction is driven by the theology of the Heidelberg Catechsim, the Belgic and Westminster Confessions, and the Canons of Dort (to learn more on the Canons of Dort, see this article by the seminary’s President, Dr. Cornelis Venema).
Be Spiritually Formed, Face-to-Face
Mid-America Reformed Seminary is committed to the spiritual formation of its students—and its students benefit from the residential-only nature of the institution. With a six-to-one student/faculty ratio, the faculty is empowered to be in real community with the students, integrating alongside them into the life of the seminary and the Church.
Opportunities for spiritual growth and formation go far beyond Chapel services. Mid-America Reformed Seminary has proved itself to have a heart for personal discipleship, spiritual and physical health, and sexual purity. And its close relationship with some local churches provides opportunities for internships and healthy local church body membership and leadership opportunities.
